Brian was born and raised in Ottawa, primarily by his single mother. From an early age, he developed a deep appreciation for Canada’s rich diversity, cultures, landscapes, and people. Through his years working in aviation and film, he has been fortunate to visit every province and territory, gaining a deep understanding of this incredible country.

One of the most profound experiences of his life was spending three weeks in the High Arctic, filming with the Tlingit and Gwich’in First Nations. It was a humbling, eye-opening perspective on resilience, tradition, and the enduring strength of Indigenous cultures.

In 2013, he embarked on a solo bicycle journey across Canada to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, honoring his father and grandfather, who both died of heart disease at 56. Starting at Third Beach in Vancouver, he rode 8,500 km to Cape Spear, Newfoundland, completing the journey in exactly 56 days—an unintended yet poetic tribute to the two men he had lost. He arrived at Cape Spear nine years to the day after losing his father, lifting his bike overhead in a moment of triumph, grief, and reflection.

After years of living in various parts of British Columbia, he and his wife settled in the Comox Valley. One of his proudest moments came in 2024 when his wife, Clare, became a dual Australian-Canadian citizen. Later that same year, in November, they welcomed their daughter, Nel, into the world—a name chosen as a tribute to the legendary Nellie McClung, whose courage and dedication to equality continue to inspire them.
Brian and Clare, like so many in this riding, rent their home and face the same economic challenges that countless families do. Brian understands firsthand the struggles that come with rising costs, and he is committed to making life more affordable for the residents of Courtenay--Alberni and to protecting the values that make Canada strong.

Public service runs deep in Brian’s family. His great-great-grandfather, Donald Mackenzie Cameron, served as a Liberal MP from 1883 to 1887 and he carries that legacy forward with the same determination that carried him across Canada by bicycle. If elected to represent Courtenay-Alberni, Brian will bring that same unyielding drive and unwavering passion to Ottawa.
